Description and Requirements

The Opportunity: This role is within the Responsible Use of AI Team in Data and Analytics. The team is responsible for reviewing all the new AI use cases across the company and ensuring adherence to our Responsible Use of AI policy. This an exciting role to influence the responsible adoption of cutting-edge AI technology across MetLife.


How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Engage with various stakeholders to identify and analyze potential risks associated with use of AI in the company including generative AI
  • Review and evaluate use cases for adherence to Responsible Use of AI Policy and Ethical AI standards, providing feedback and guidance to business teams on improving transparency, accountability, explainability and outcomes
  • Develop and execute policies and methodologies to address potential harm from AI technologies in collaboration with privacy, security, model risk, data governance, and procurement teams.
  • Analyze and provide guidance on model testing strategies and results, including bias and fairness assessments of AI models
  • Perform responsible use of AI Ethical risk assessment and provide risk descriptions, mitigating controls and action items to address the risks.
  • Stay informed of industry-wide insights and best practices in responsible use of AI to foresee risks and recognize obstacles in implementing MetLife's Responsible Use of AI Standard.
  • Utilize technical expertise to promote the use of tools and methods to mitigate risks and remove implementation barriers.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement in the use and understanding of AI technologies, ensuring that all AI usage implementations align with industry standards and regulatory expectations.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Foundation in quantitative analysis with an emphasis on predictive modeling and data science principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical skills, ability to communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • 4-6 years' experience in AI Ethics, AI Governance, Data Governance, Third party risk management, IT Governance, Compliance or Ethics.
  • Knowledge of bias, fairness, and explainability in AI systems, with experience in conveying these concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, passion, willingness to learn and continuously improve.


Preferred Skills:

  • Insurance Industry experience and familiarity with the business and associated operational risks
  • Relevant certifications or professional education in AI Ethics, AI Governance, Data Science, AI or related fields
  • Experience conducting fairness tests and implementing model explainability techniques
  • Knowledge of data governance and technology governance practices supporting AI capabilities such as classification and data lineage.

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
