The Chairperson of the Leadership Studies and Adult Education Department reports to the College of Education Dean and serves as the chief administrative and academic leader of the department. In addition to the general oversight of the department, chairperson will be responsible for strategic planning; budget development, management and allocation; recruitment and retention of faculty and students; faculty, staff, and student development; management and improvement of curricula; evaluating faculty performance; fundraising; engagement with university leaders and community stakeholders to represent the goals of the department. The chairperson must be a collaborative and visionary leader willing to work in a team atmosphere to amplify and represent the mission and vision of the department and College of Education.

This is 12-month tenure track position to be hire at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

A&T legacy as a Historically Black University ( HBCU ) dedicated to exemplary teaching, scholarship and effective public service, the College of Education offer degrees at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels. This mission is reflected in the College of Education conceptual framework.

The College of Education comprises three departments: the department of Counseling, the Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education, and the Department of Educator Preparation's programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation ( CAEP ). The Department of Counseling's programs are accredited by The Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs ( CACREP ).

The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education offers an interdisciplinary PhD degree in Leadership Studies, a Master's Degree in Adult Education, Master's of School Administration degree, and a Master's of School Administration Certificate program. The Leadership Studies doctoral program is an interdisciplinary degree designed to prepare researchers and practitioners to be social justice advocates capable of transforming organizations. The Master's of Science degree in Adult Education is designed for graduate students who desire to become effective adult educators and change agents within local, regional, national, and international communities. The Master's of School Administration ( MSA ) degree and certificate programs are designed to prepare school executives to be culturally responsive change agents across schools and communities.

Established in 1891, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University is a public, historically black, land grant institution located in Greensboro, North Carolina. North Carolina A & T and other 1890 land-grant institutions were established by the Second Morrill Act, which expanded the system of land-grant universities to include a historically Black institution in those states where segregation denied people of color access to the land grant institutions established by the First Morrill Act in 1862.
