Job Description

The Editorial Director will serve as the strategic leader of Talkiatry’s content efforts, with full ownership over the planning and execution of editorial across channels. This role will transform Talkiatry’s content into a best-in-class mental health media platform—trusted by patients, providers, and partners alike.

This role will create editorial content that turns Talkiatry into a definitive source for mental health information that’s credible, clear, and compelling, including blogs, newsletters, and educational content.

This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of content strategy, storytelling, and operational excellence. You won’t just support our content efforts—you’ll own them and elevate them into a major growth and trust driver for Talkiatry.  Please attach your portfolio to your application.

About Talkiatry:

Talkiatry transforms psychiatry with accessible, human, and responsible care. We’re a national mental health practice co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist to solve the problems both groups face in accessing and providing the highest quality treatment.

60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental illness go untreated every year because care is inaccessible, while 45% of clinicians are out of network with insurers because reimbursement rates are low, and paperwork is unduly burdensome.  With innovative technology and a human-centered philosophy, we provide patients with the care they need—and allow psychiatrists to focus on why they got into medicine.

You will:

  • Editorial strategy and calendars: Own and manage integrated editorial calendars that align content production with business goals.
  • Own blog and newsletter: Lead the evolution of our blog and newsletter into the leading digital destination for trusted mental health content, shaping editorial strategy, voice, and cadence across patient and provider audiences.
  • SEO production: Partner with our SEO agency to refine briefs, ensuring all content has strong strategic foundations and meets editorial and clinical standards. Hire and manage a roster of freelance writers to produce content.
  • Content QA & Medical Review: Serve as the final editorial checkpoint for all published content—editing for clarity, tone, grammar, and compliance—and lead the medical review process, including routing and version control.
  • Audience Development: Help evolve our content strategies to grow and deepen audience engagement across platforms, with a focus on patient and provider needs. Evolve our voice and tone to meet those audiences.
  • Educational Content Development: Lead the creation of patient-facing educational content, including scripting for multimedia formats like video explainers and clinician-led content.

You have:

  • You have 7+ years of experience in journalism, content operations, or content marketing—ideally with time spent in regulated, human-centered industries (e.g., health care, finance, education)
  • You’ve led or scaled multi-channel content programs including SEO, email, blogs, newsletters, and landing pages.
  • You’re comfortable with clinical or compliance review processes and excel at translating complex, sensitive topics into content that feels clear, empathetic, and accurate.
  • You’re highly organized and able to manage content workflows from ideation through review and publication.
  • You’ve worked cross-functionally with marketing, design, SEO, and/or clinical teams, and you bring strong communication, prioritization, and editing skills.
  • You bring a background in journalism, publishing, or professional editing, and a strong editorial eye for shaping clear, consistent, high-quality content.

Why Talkiatry:

  • Top-notch team: Join a diverse, motivated group committed to reshaping mental health care.
  • Collaborative environment: Work in a supportive setting where innovation is encouraged.
  • Flexible hybrid location: While this is a field-based role, you’ll also have the flexibility to work from home and visit our Manhattan office (NoMad) as needed.
  • Excellent benefits: Talkiatry offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans effective from day one, 401K with match, generous PTO, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and more.
  • Growth potential: As Talkiatry expands, you’ll have opportunities to enhance your skills and advance your career.
  • Meaningful impact: Help remove barriers to mental health care in underserved communities and make a tangible difference in the lives of patients and providers.

Compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000, up to 15% performance bonus and equity depending on experience; actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, location, as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.

Talkiatry participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. only after a job offer is accepted and Form I-9 is completed. For more information on E-Verify, please visit the following: EVerify Participation & IER Right to Work .

At Talkiatry, we are an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace and candidate experience. We strive to create an environment where everyone has a sense of belonging and purpose, and where we learn from the unique experiences of those around us.
