Job Description
As a Lubrication Technician Apprentice you will be responsible for equipment lubrication, contamination control, inspection and proactive maintenance activities for all lubricated mechanical systems. As well as assist in any maintenance work that you are trained and capable of performing. Must be available for overtime including daily emergency, after hours call-ins, weekends and holidays. Applicant will work within the Maintenance Department and will be enrolled under the State Apprenticeship Program and attend school. The apprentice will be required to fulfill the requirements of daytime study through one of the regional Wisconsin Technical Colleges. Additional study may be required outside of work and school. Course work will begin at the next available class after the applicant has successfully passed the apprenticeship aptitude test, the pre-work screening functional test and completed the trial period.
- Maintain lubrication health of plantwide equipment, gather and prepare samples for shipment, use a CMMS system and other computer-based lubrication tracking programs. Provides written feedback to the CMMS system and the lubrication tracking program.
- Monitors millwide lubrication systems including main machine oil systems., turbine and compressor systems, hydraulic systems, gearing systems and takes corrective action when outside normal specifications.
- Use of tools and equipment for routine and non-routine lubrication functions.
- Draining and cleaning of reservoirs
- Mechanical modification of systems as directed to facilitate sampling and filtration, and other proactive improvements
- Filling reservoirs
- Topping off reservoirs
- Changing filters and breathers on reservoirs
- Operating filtration equipment
- Grease relubrication with manual and automatic dispensing equipment
- Maintenance of dispensing equipment and automatic systems
- Labeling and tagging reservoirs, equipment, inventory and delivery containers
- Coordination of inventory and routine ordering of products
- Stocking inventory locations
- Schedule, collect, and label samples for analysis
- Receive and evaluate oil analysis results for future planned maintenance
- Report any discrepancies or conditions that require corrective, predictive or planned maintenance for production systems
- As equipment and technology evolve, the lubrication technicians' job responsibilities may also need to adapt to meet the changing needs of the business
- Maintain and coordinate the oil sampling and testing program. Test data will be recorded and trended to provide preventative/predictive maintenance procedures.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
