The Astronomy department teaches a range of courses to a wide variety of majors both inside and outside of the discipline. Introductory courses, such as Astronomy 103, consist of lectures led by instructors, with discussion sections led by Teaching Assistants (TAs). 500 students per semester enroll in Astronomy 103, taught by 4 TAs and 2 instructors. The course sequences include lecture demonstrations, in-class technology, course web presence, and assessment of student learning.

Focus in Astronomy or Astrophysics required.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Terminal, 21 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Minimum $65,000 ACADEMIC (9 months)

The typical starting salary for this position is $65,000 - $70,000 depending on qualifications and experience. The salary will be paid out over 9 months. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as sick leave; competitive insurance and saving accounts; and retirement benefits. Employees have the option to continue benefits for the full calendar year.
There is a possibility the position could work with other intro courses, as well as honors courses.
