Summary Of Role The Instructional Design role supports the design and development of training solutions for all levels and functional areas of cafe operations. Additionally, this position develops training deliverables in alignment with organizational goals, strategies, and competencies; coordinates project tasking, oversees and supports deliverable development, and consults with subject-matter experts and key stakeholders to ensure accuracy and quality.
Essential Functions Curriculum Development - Authors instructor-led training (both virtual and in-person), interactive eLearning, and video-based training using an array of authoring tools
- Develops, manipulates, and edits graphics, video clips, and assets to be utilized in learning deliverables
- Ensures training content is high quality, clear, accurate, consistent, and free of spelling and grammatical errors
- Works with third-party vendors when necessary to source additional resources or to develop alternative solutions
- Recommends, designs, and develops creative learning solutions that include, but are not limited to, instructor-led, eLearning, and blended learning solutions
- Writes and edits storyboards, interactive/video scripts, trainer notes, and other learning documentation to include learner or trainer guides, on-the-job training checklists, quizzes, and assessments
- Designs synchronous or asynchronous learning experiences that improve crew member performance
- Presents ideas visually and can translate complex concepts into simplistic language
Curriculum Management - Works with Sr. Manager of Instructional Design, key stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and learners to specify gaps, needs, and realign with desired outcomes
- Supports the evaluation and maintenance of existing training tools and programs
- Improves existing material by making it more concise and accurate
- Maintains updates to content and courses within the Learning Management System (LMS)
Required Experience - Minimum of 3+ years of experience in instructional design and instructional technology
Educational Requirements - BA/BS degree or certification with emphasis on instructional design or instructional technology; Master’s degree preferred
Qualifications - Proficient with Articulate products, Vyond, Camtasia, SnagIt, Adobe Premiere, Captivate, Audition, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, , and Microsoft Suites
- Experience administering and maintaining Learning Management Systems
- Ability to work with short deadlines and high stress on multiple projects
- Ability to impart technical knowledge to a wide variety of audiences
- Attention to detail and structure to ensure high quality training materials
- Proven understanding of instructional design, learning theory, and engagement techniques
- Experienced in training development using agile methodology
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a larger team, balance multiple tasks/objectives and ability to handle frequently changing demands
- High comfort level with technology, ability to quickly learn, and utilize new software applications
- Ability to effectively organize work, prioritize, and manage time in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
WORKING CONDITIONS - Primary workspace is flexible between remote work and open office cubicles
- 10% travel
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
